DJ and Morgan’s Classic Atlanta Wedding

Morgan and Dj Hooks had the ideal classic wedding. This sweet couple knew how to incorporate their flawless style into their gorgeous day!

I met Morgan when I was participating in one of my middle school friends wedding 8 years ago, Sarah Pickell. Sarah’s sister-in-law is Morgan. Morgan and I instantly clicked when we met and little did I know I would be the coordinator for her wedding 8 years later. Morgan brought DJ to Sarah and Brandon’s wedding as a date and everyone fell in love with his very calm sincere demeanor.

Fast forward 7 years later, DJ purposed to Morgan at the Historic Marietta Square around Christmas time. The square was decorated with beautiful Christmas lights. It was the perfect night for DJ to pop the question he had been waiting to do! She of course said YES with sheer excitement!

Morgan and DJ met with me the following February to go over their vision for their wedding. We had picked September 16th and we were still looking for the church of their dreams following a classic style reception. Shortly after they toured Peachtree Road United Methodist Church. This church had it all. The long center aisle, beautiful stained glass windows, a secret garden perfect for their first look, and an awesome bridal suite to get ready in. From that point Dj and Morgan found The Georgian Club. The Georgian Club is ideal for the theme they were achieving. DJ plays baseball and loved the idea that the Georgian Club looks over  the new Braves Stadium: Suntrust Park. Morgan works in the same building and was able to see the venue anytime she needed to.

On September 16, 2017 these two beautiful souls became one. The day started getting ready with Michele Staggers glam on hair and Kaley Beck Beauty on makeup.  Kristin Faye Photography and BEV weddings (videographer) arrived promptly and began the beginning of the day! The girls arrived in their chic black bridesmaids dresses from Davids Bridal and Morgan looked like a movie star wearing her lace gown by David’s Bridal. Morgan was so excited when she saw her stunning bouquet by Southern Peach Floral. The owner, Brittanie Quain, knocked it out of the park. Finding the exact flowers for her bouquet was a little tricky even though she ordered them way in advance. September 2017 had tricky weather with Hurricane Irma. Brittanie really did deliver and it was perfection at its finest.

Tender moments as husband and wife

Tender moments as husband and wife

Dj and Morgan did a first look at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church and it really was the sweetest moment. The couple used this moment to read their own vows to each other. I asked Morgan what her favorite part of the day was and her response brought me right back to the moment when I got Morgan to meet DJ and they locked eyes the first time. “My favorite part of our day was our first look. All day long all I wanted to do was see DJ and be with him. Seeing him took away all my nerves. We decided to write personal vows for each other and read them during our first look. Hands down the best was him reading his vows to me.” Not to mention DJ looked suave wearing a navy tux by  Men’s Wearhouse.

I also asked Morgan what was a memory that stands out that day. ” Hanging out with my dad just the two of us before we walked down the aisle. We laughed and talked about how nervous we were and I love the memory of telling him just how happy I was. It was such a sweet moment.”

After the ceremony we went to The Georgian Club where the couple was introduced as Mr. and Mrs. Hooks for the second time! Ali Fici (Dj with In An Instant) played their first dance, father/daughter dance, and mother/son dance. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room.  The couple had their first meal together as husband and wife and were beaming with love.

The beautiful cake was made by Baked Joy Inc and adorned with beautiful florals by Southern Peach Floral. You know the cake was good when you hear everyone talking about it. The grooms cake was Atlanta Braves Themed. Go Braves!!

I will end on this important piece of advice from Mrs. Morgan Hooks:” JOURNAL! During the planning process, after the wedding, and the honeymoon! Our wedding day was absolutely the most perfect day and I really wish I could relive it over and over again and writing it down made everything I felt about our day made it even more special. ”
